Individual -vs- Collective

The San (Bushman) and Inuit (Eskimo) inhabit barren deserts of opposite extremes where sharing is a matter of life and death. They share the same values and subscribe to a similar egalitarian code of conduct – until a casino comes along and turns their world upside-down.

In dire circumstances we demonstrate an ability to transcend primitive Darwinian instincts. Why can’t it be permanent? Nature is a relentless jungle that shows no mercy, luckily our unique brain allows us to overcome the myriad of pandemics and pestilence it holds in store…if we put our heads together.

The go-it-alone-cowboy is but a vestige of Manifest Destiny and lawlessness. Tough guy violence spells doom in any setting. We can no longer pretend guns are relevant or even romantic when fellow Americans are terrified at the sight of high heel boots and high Stetsons riding in on their high horses.

The San people are the gentlest in the world and are also the oldest strain of humanity extant. Why not emulate them instead?
